Weathered Landscapes.
I am exploring the landscapes, that are reflections of my world, in an attempt to interpret how we choose to live and how we interact with nature. Whether man has interrupted, manipulated or used the environment, we have produced landscapes that seem to wear and be worn by weather. Simply, my landscapes reflect the way the force of nature continues to interfere with our versions of the naturalĀ and still demands our respect and attention.
My landscapes derive from my many travels andĀ are described by the quality of paint, and pencil. Thick gobs of paint or swirls of pencil can either create luscious fluffy clouds or bold thunderous brackish, storm clouds, while chunky stripes, heavy and distorted imply an open desert sky which often feels expansive yet omnipresent to the simple tourist. Thin washes rely on flatness whilst detailed brushwork reflect, my impressions of these landscaped scenes. Whether man merely plops things into the landscape, covers up or impregnates it, I am interested in the way paint, paper, pencil and pen can mark and describe a sense of interlocked and psychological endurance over time.
